Junior Coaching

As part of the club’s on-going commitment to junior development, Hemingfords Tennis Club will again be running an exciting mini tennis programme throughout the summer.

The dates of the sessions will run from May to August. Dates are listed below together with a registration form and information sheets.

What will the coaching involve?

We aim to provide a program to develop the basic core skills for tennis known as the ABC’s — Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. In addition to this, technical and tactical coaching will be provided to develop all court play.

We will follow the LTA Mini-Red, Orange, Green format and also look to provide progressive awards as your child develops. More details on this can be found on the LTA website: http://www.lta.org.uk/LTA-Mini-Tennis/

Up to the age of 11 the balls, rackets and court size are all proportionately defined to allow their games to develop.

How do I register?

Parents simply need to join and complete a junior registration form (at the bottom of this section).

Membership fees for 2024 are only £35 per year for Juniors. Parent membership is available which allows a parent to play with a Junior for £20. Family memberships are also available that covers the whole family, as well as social and competitive tennis for big people!

Junior coaching will be in three blocks of five Saturdays, with juniors up to the age of 10 being on court 10:00 until 10:45 and juniors over the age of 10 being on court 11:00 until 12:00. If any of the sessions are not on for any reason a notice will be put up on the clubhouse and Facebook, as well as an e-mail sent to all parents of registered children giving as much notice as possible. 

Cost

Each weekly coaching session costs £3 per week for a junior member. Therefore, a block of five sessions costs £15, which we ask to be paid as soon as possible after the block starts. Alternatively you can pay for all three blocks of five sessions up front for a cost of £30. Illness in the coaching team and adverse weather can result in sessions being cancelled but we will do our utmost to ensure the sessions go ahead. However, if we are unable to do so, we will guarantee that there will be at least 12 sessions even if we have to add on additional weeks.

Non members are also able to attend at a cost of £5 per session. Again these should be paid for in advance either per block (£25) or for the season (£50)

If juniors sign up to the full 15 weeks this will also include a free club t-shirt.
